Bungie is getting into the Thanksgiving spirit and has released a statement to all Destiny fans, thanking them for their commitment to the multiplayer shooter, while looking back on all the great and not-so-great things that happened with the online experience.

Destiny launched back in September across the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms. It promised to deliver an evolution of the multiplayer first-person shooter experience, with plans to create a community around its impressive content and role-playing mechanics.

Unfortunately for those who invested in the game, the story was lackluster and the gameplay repetitive, meaning many were left feeling disappointed, as the whole experience failed to live up to all the hype generated before launch.

Even so, developer Bungie reacted to all the feedback and pledged to improve the game through updates and patches, not to mention downloadable content that expanded the story and added new, much more elaborate adventures for players to embark on.

Bungie thanks fans for their commitment

After rolling out a pretty major patch a short while ago, the developer now takes a bit of time off to thank fans via the official blog for their dedication and for their feedback concerning Destiny.

According to Community Manager David Dague, the community is one of the greatest things about the game and its members deserve to know their importance.

"We’re thankful for the millions of people who have played our game. We’re thankful that you care enough about what happens in that brave new world to talk to us about it. We’re thankful for the chance to expand on our shared adventure in the days to come. We’re thankful for ascendant shards, exotic weapons, good friends, and covering fire in times of severe danger," Dague explains.

Bungie is grateful for everything that happened

The developer doesn't shy away from highlighting some of the less-than-great things that happened with the game this year, but considers that everything will get better as players stick with the online shooter.

"We’re thankful for everything that happened this year: the launches, world-firsts, the hard learnings, the updates, the forum chatter, and the moment when we gleefully surrendered complete and total control of our game to its rightful owners. Most of all, we’re thankful for you. Thanks for playing," Dague adds.

Destiny is set to receive its first premium expansion, The Dark Below, next month, so expect Bungie to share more details after it gets back from the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
