Guardians in Destiny 2 can get ready to unleash all kinds of devastation on their enemies with the new exotic weapons and gear revealed in the latest Beyond Light trailer. Exotic weapons and armor are always the coveted items for players with a proclivity for collecting everything, having the most powerful setup available at any given time, and completionists. Some of these powerful items are often considered mandatory by raid groups, until Bungie nerfs them and teams find a different weapon or piece of armor to use, such as the Izanagi’s Burden with the catalyst before Bungie reworked it.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light will feature new locations and will remove some content to make room for what the expansion offers. The expansion is also introducing the new Stasis subclasses for each type of Guardian: Hunter, Titan, and Warlock. Moreover, Destiny 2: Beyond Light is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, although the next-generation release date has not yet been announced. Speculation suggests the game could be available on Xbox Series X the day that the console releases, as the expansion and Microsoft’s newest console already share their November 10 release date.

As the Beyond Light hype continues, Bungie has released a trailer revealing the new exotic weapons and gear in the expansion. The trailer gives players a glimpse of what each item can do and how it’s useful to Guardians’ arsenal, from weapons making enemies explode to armor pieces changing how Guardian abilities function. Destiny 2: Beyond Light’s Deluxe Edition contents were also advertised at the trailer’s end, featuring the Portal Fires Faster catalyst, the Frozen In Time ornament, and the Any Other Sky exotic Sparrow.

Destiny 2 has had quite the journey since its release in 2017. The game was criticized for its lack of overall content and bug infestation. However, in the three years since its release, Bungie has overhauled much of the game’s systems and introduced a beaucoup amount of content. The company’s split from their partnership with Activision, Destiny 2’s original publisher, should also produce some interesting results.

Despite Destiny 2’s long and winding road, its community has endured frustrations and remained stalwart in its dedication to the game. The prospect of new exotics and catalysts, and new subclasses, always makes players foment enthusiasm, at least until the weapons and armor are released and practical reactions ensue (i.e. disappointment at the underpowered items that are otherwise cool). If today’s trailer is any indication, Beyond Light will at least give Guardians the novelty of ripping a hole in enemies using more innovative methods. However, there were no exotic auto rifles displayed, so there’s one piece of disappointment up front.

Destiny 2 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.
