Nintendo Switch Getting Adjustable Charging Stand For Longer Tabletop Sessions

Nintendo has announced a new Nintendo Switch peripheral. An adjustable charging stand for the hybrid console is coming in July for $20 ($30 AUD), the company announced today. Why would you want one? Nintendo says it will help you "enjoy longer play sessions in tabletop mode.

The Switch's charging port is on the bottom of the system, and that makes it difficult to charge while playing in tabletop mode with the kickstand. With the adjustable charging stand you can play while charging so you can stay in the action longer if you want. Additionally, you can adjust the angle of the stand to one that suits your preferred viewing angle.

This announcement comes just ahead of E3 2018, where Nintendo plans to show off lots more of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch. Whereas last year Nintendo focused heavily on Super Mario Odyssey, this year the spotlight is understandably going to Smash. The game launches later this year, and it's expected to help Switch sales improve further still.

The Switch has sold 17.79 million units by Nintendo's latest count. Nintendo plans to sell 20 million more during this fiscal year.
