The announcement that Cyberpunk 2077 fans around the world have dreaded to hear has been made, as CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the game has been delayed once again, this time until December 10. Cyberpunk 2077 is the latest game by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red, and many consider to be a late contender for 2020's Game of the Year - assuming it comes out this year.

Cyberpunk 2077 has been the subject of several high profile delays. The game was originally set to be released in April, but it was pushed back till September, as the developers said that it needed more polish. Cyberpunk 2077 was then delayed again, from September until November 19. Cyberpunk 2077 is meant to be a massive affair, with all kinds of different character options and choices available to the player, so it's not surprising that an incredible amount of work is needed in preparing a game of its size.

Despite numerous promises to the contrary, Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed, but at least this is a short one. CD Projekt Red has released a statement via the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account, stating that the game has been pushed back to December 10. The reason given for the delay is the need to bring all versions of Cyberpunk 2077 up to scratch in time for launch, as it's currently planned to be released for Google Stadia, PC, Xbox One/X, Xbox Series S/X, PS4/Pro, and PS5.

The developers addressed the recent claim that Cyberpunk 2077 has gone gold, stating that it still needs work for its "day zero" patch. The reaction to the delay has been one of overwhelming disappointment, with fans pointing out that the same Cyberpunk 2077 account had promised a Twitter user named PoshPenguino only yesterday that the game was coming out in November as planned. They asked as they wanted confirmation of the release date so that they could take time off work.

Shigeru Miyamoto's quote about delayed games being good but bad games being bad forever has to be thought about, even if this delay is extremely late. A three-week delay isn't a great deal and it pushes Cyberpunk 2077 into the Christmas period, when people will have more free time to play the game. It's hard for the people who are excited to play Cyberpunk 2077 to experience another delay, but Night City has only been pushed a little further away, and the wait promises to be worth it.

Cyberpunk 2077 will now be released for Google Stadia, PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with compatibility on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X on December 10, 2020.
