Ubisoft hopes that its upcoming The Crew open world online racing title won't encounter any problems at launch, as thanks to extensive beta stages and extra polishing time, the game is going to deliver a fun and stable experience.

The Crew is set to appear next week and promises to allow racing game fans to embark on a sprawling adventure across a huge open world that's modeled after the United States of America. With the promise of fun open world gameplay, not to mention plenty of races that can be experienced alone, with friends or against other humans, there are high hopes for the new title.

The game is Ubisoft's latest big triple-A release set to appear at the end of this year, after Assassin's Creed Unity, Rogue, or Far Cry 4. Unfortunately for the French publisher, all those titles, more or less, have been affected by issues in terms of gameplay, performance, or content, with Unity being the worst offender.

The Crew won't encounter issues, dev believes

Even so, The Crew Lead Game Designer Serkan Hasan remains confident in The Crew, as he tells The Metropolist that, thanks to the myriad of beta stages organized across the PC, PS4, or Xbox One platforms, the title and its online servers are ready to withstand the upcoming launch.

"For The Crew, we’ve reaped the benefits of a long term beta program, designed specifically to push our infrastructure as far as possible in real world situations, with thousands of players from all over the world playing the game at the same time," he explains.

The Crew saw plenty of different test phases take place across most of its intended platforms, including an open one that happened earlier this week for all PS4 and Xbox One users.

Ubisoft is aware of the issues plaguing new games nowadays

Even with this belief, Hasan admits that video games nowadays suffer from plenty of issues at launch, but he still hopes that players will be attracted to invest in the title on release day.

"The launch of any online game these days has potential issues but I hope that players will be encouraged by our open approach. If you had any doubts that we could pull this off, I hope that the betas proved our credentials and the game’s stability," he adds.

The Crew launches worldwide on December 2 across the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. You can expect to see more of it next week.
