The game will include seven levels, all based on popular maps from predecessor Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter-Strike: Source. For gameplay mode Bomb / Defuse maps are the dust, dust2, aztec, nuke and inferno, and Hostage Rescue, the game and the maps italy office. The appearance of the maps is adapted to today's standards. The layout is largely the same, although some small changes Valve maps for better balance.

The PlayStation 3 version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive can be controlled by a mouse and keyboard. The PC version can be played on Windows and OS X.
