Of all the Resident Evil games, Resident Evil 4 is many gamer’s favorite, received very high review scores for every platform it released on, and was available for pretty much every platform you could want to play it on. Gamecube, PS2, Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and even mobile devices all saw a release. You’d think a game that’s now 9 years old would be assigned to the history books, but Capcom has decided to release yet another version in 2014.
Capcom has announced a new Ultimate Edition of Resident Evil 4 is coming to PC, available globally through Steam and as a retail disc edition limited to Europe. Why would you be interested in picking up this game (again)? Because Capcom has tweaked the visuals and included some enticing extras.
First of all, Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition has been updated to use HD graphics and promises a 60fps experience. That includes being optimized for widescreen. The video below and gallery above give you a good idea of the graphical quality on offer.

Capcom is also fully supporting the extra features offered by Steam. So the game will include Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, Steam Trading Cards, and global leader board access. If you want to play with a controller, there’s full support for them as well as an updated control scheme, rear third person view, and some updated gameplay mechanics. You also get all content seen in previous releases including the Separate Ways epilogue.
Extras included with this new release consist of a 62-track digital soundtrack and an 80-page digital archive. And the good news is, Capcom is set to charge $19.99, which is fantastic value for such a highly-regarded game. All we need now is an official release date.
As for the PC you’ll need to play it, the minimum requirements are easily achievable. A Core 2 Duo or Athlon X2 processor, 2GB RAM, 15GB hard drive space, and a GeForce 8800GTS or Radeon HD 4850. The recommended specs aren’t that much higher. One thing you’ll definitely need is Windows, though. Windows XP, Vista, 7, or 8 are all supported.
