This week saw the release of Havoc, the first DLC package for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. In typical COD DLC fashion, the pack includes four new multiplayer maps, as well as a new weapon and weapon variant.

However, unlike past Call of Duty DLC offerings, Havoc also includes a little something extra in the form of Exo Zombies. The mode draws heavily from past iterations of Zombies in the Call of Duty franchise, but throws some near-future tech in for good measure.

For those who may not have seen the trailer for Exo Zombies, the basic premise involves four Atlas Corporation employees’ attempt to fight their way out of a zombie-filled building. Each of those employees comes from a different department, and bares a striking resemblance to some TV and film actors. There’s John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, Rose McGowan, and Jon Bernthal – an eclectic cast to say the least.

By and large, the Exo Zombies mode looks like a lot of fun, and a great way for Sledgehammer Games to keep the variant fresh. However, many wondered whether the mode would be a one-off offering for Advanced Warfare, or if it would kick off a new campaign. Last year’s COD: Ghosts, for example, featured a 4-part campaign called Extinction that traded alien creatures for zombies.

The hope was that the ending to Exo Zombies – if there was one – would give us a better idea as to whether the mode will continue in future DLC packs. Unfortunately, now that we have seen the ending, we are more confused than ever. Check it out below courtesy of NoahJ456.

As readers can see in the video above, the ending to Exo Zombies is anticlimactic to say the least. In fact, it isn’t really an ending at all, as the rounds continue to tick up and players can keep fighting. All we can say for sure is that whatever hope of rescue the Atlas employees might have had is gone, and that an experimental weapon station has been opened.

The hope is that this anticlimactic ending will lead into the next Exo Zombies map, which could hit with the Ascendance DLC pack in about two months. But, Sledgehammer has yet to detail any of that second pack’s content, so we’re just guessing at this point. All we know is that if a downed warbird is it, then Zombies fans will be disappointed.

What do you think of the Exo Zombies ending? Were you hoping for something a little more exciting?
