Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Suffers from Issues on PC Due to Settings

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare suffers from quite a few problems on the PC platform due to some problematic settings, which can result in crashes, poor performance, as well as other problems. Fortunately, a few solutions and workarounds are already available.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare launched yesterday, November 3, in the form of the Day Zero Edition across the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms and is set to release for everyone else later today, November 4, all around the world.

The title, like many others in the popular series, is eagerly awaited by millions of first-person shooter fans, as it brings forth a lot of innovation in terms of its setting, its story, as well as its multiplayer mode.

Unfortunately, the game already suffered from its fair share of issues yesterday, including some that forced console owners to re-download the files they had already pre-loaded once they got the digital version of the title from either the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Issues are present on PC for Advanced Warfare

The PC version is no exception, as apparently once again a few issues are plaguing this edition of the new Call of Duty game, just like previous iterations.

According to GameSmoke, some of the biggest issues are related to two specific graphics options, in the form of Cache Spot Shadow Maps and Cache Sun Shadow Maps.

These two settings, when enabled, may result in errors like one that says "Your settings may result in lower texture resolution" or even bad performance of the actual game, including a lower framerate, frame drops, blurry textures, and other such things.

If you turn off the two problematic options, things should work much better, according to the guide.
Other errors are also plaguing the game

Among the other problems that affect the PC edition of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is one that causes the whole game to freeze and doesn’t allow any interaction with the player. In this case, an Alt-Tab maneuver seems to solve the freeze.

An error relating to the DirectX version installed on the computer is also rather common and seems to happen if the PC doesn't meet the minimum recommendations or the actual installation is corrupt. Reinstalling DirectX may fix the problem, but some users continue to report the error despite doing the reinstall and their computers meeting the recommended specs.

Expect to see patches for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare to debut in the following weeks across all platforms.
