Video game developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts announce that they are planning to launch the Final Stand downloadable content for Battlefield 4 on November 18 for all gamers who are subscribing to the Premium service, and on December 2 for the general population.

The included maps are called operation Whiteout, Hangar 21, Giants of Karelia and Hammerhead, and gamers will also get access to a wide array of new weaponry and environments to explore as they battle enemies in a new mode.

The official announcement states, "We’ve worked hard to ensure you’ll have a blast with the new weapons, gadgets, and vehicles featured in Final Stand. You’ll traverse the environments with the new Snowmobile and use the strafing abilities of the new Hovertank. High-tech prototype weapons like the devastating railgun Rorsch MK-1 should also give an itch to your trigger finger."

The DLC is the last one currently planned to be offered for Battlefield 4, and the development team at DICE says that at the same time it is also set to deploy an important patch for the game, tweaking a range of core mechanics.

The Final Stand is designed to show that the first-person shooter is still relevant and can keep its fan community engaged even though rival company Activision has launched Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which is coming with a slew of improvements for the multiplayer side.

Battlefield 4 has a troubled history

Battlefield 4 had a number of issues at launch and the team at DICE worked hard in order to deliver patches to fix the problems as fast as possible.

There are members of the franchise fan community that are still unsatisfied with the way the game plays at the moment and say that they have lost their faith in the franchise.

The development team is trying to get as many gamers involved in the Community Test Environment and claim that all the information they are offering is used to improve the core game mechanics.

At the moment, DICE is helping the team at Visceral Games put the finishing touches on Battlefield Hardline, which will be launched in 2015 and is designed to introduce a more focused and dynamic multiplayer experience based on the battles between law enforcement and criminal cartels.

There are also rumors that another piece of DLC for Battlefield 4 is being planned and that it might be delivered early in 2015.
