Nintendo has lost just about all of its 3rd party support for their new console, and their stock pile of cash from Wii sales won’t last forever. Nintendo has, arguably, the best first party development teams in the industry, but eventually fans should get sick of the same game with updated graphics. The newest game Nintendo is working on is Star Fox, and 1) that is not a new IP 2) we didn’t even get to see any of it.

Watch Dogs is Ubisoft’s highest selling game in the first 24 hours on the market. This comes as a surprise to me, since this is a new IP and Ubisoft has huge franchises like; Assassins Creed, Rayman, Tom Clancy’s, and Far Cry. These are established franchises with big followings, and they were beat out by this new game. A game released on PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Playstation 4. No Wii U version is even being dreamt about by Ubisoft or anyone else in the video game industry.

Ubisoft had been one of the biggest 3rd party supporters of the Wii U, but their, arguably, biggest game of the year will not be coming to a Nintendo product. This game was announced over 2 years ago and was delayed far past its original release date. If Ubisoft truly believed in Nintendo and the Wii U, they had plenty of time to make a version on the game for the Wii U. The Wii U game pad already has a use to replace the Watch Dogs companion app. The failure.

With the lose of quality third party support and quality first party games coming out only once per year, can Nintendo live on in the video game hardware and software business?
