Assassin’s Creed Unity is one of the most expected game launches of the fall season and gamers in the United States have begun getting their hands on copies, ready to experience the French Revolution and see what the re-created city of Paris looks like in the game.

Unfortunately, a lot of them have discovered that the title is at the moment suffering from some big performance issues and that they are unable to enjoy any of its mechanics because the framerate simply is not there.

Reports on Reddit and on other fan sites are saying that the most affected version of Assassin’s Creed Unity is that designed for the Xbox One, which apparently is running well under 30 FPS on the platform, especially during the moments when the hardware needs to process a lot of information.

Similar player experiences are also happening on the PlayStation 4, and it seems that only high performance PCs are at the moment able to show the game in full detail, while lower performance ones are struggling to keep the frame rate up.

So far, the team at Ubisoft has not offered any sort of reaction to the reports and some gamers are speculating that a day one patch is being quickly put together in order to alleviate some of the issues.

It’s unclear whether the recently launched 2.02 update for the PS4 is eliminating any of the problems.
Assassin’s Creed Unity promised a truly next-gen experience

Assassin’s Creed Unity is the biggest game of the fall for Ubisoft, and if the performance issues cannot be quickly eliminated on all platforms, the publisher might be facing a tough next three months when it comes to sales.

The series uses an open world structure and the new release is designed to deliver an almost realistic version of Paris as it was in the late XVIII century, with major landmarks opened to exploration and characters modelled on real people.

Gamers need to explore the city and battle hosts of enemies in order to discover how the forces behind the French Revolution are trying to twist the will of the people to meet their own goals.

Ubisoft is also launching a companion title, called Assassin’s Creed Rogue, on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, allowing gamers to take control of a Templar for the first time in the franchise and experience gameplay which is similar to that of last year’s Black Flag.
