Final Fantasy 15 players will soon be able to run around the game like an Assassin — yes, a capital-A Assassin — thanks to a quirky collaboration between publishers Square Enix and Ubisoft, the companies announced today.

Square Enix is releasing free DLC for Final Fantasy 15 that will bring an event called the Assassin’s Festival to Lestallum. The town will be decked out in banners and other regalia to mark the special occasion, and various Assassin-themed minigames and game mechanics will be available in Final Fantasy 15.

The Assassin’s Festival add-on will be released Aug. 31. The day before, some Final Fantasy 15 players — anybody who has obtained the Dream Egg from the Moogle Chocobo Carnival event — will be gifted an outfit for Noctis to get them in the mood for the festival. The festival will bring another Assassin-themed outfit to the game, as well as the opportunity for Noctis to “explore more like an Assassin and even use some of the Assassins’ more well-known abilities.”

You can see this in action in the Assassin’s Festival trailer above. Noctis scampers up tall structures in Lestallum, then performs leaps of faith into hay bales and even a jumping assassination.

Yeah, it’s weird.

Ubisoft said in a blog post today that this collaboration between Assassin’s Creed and Final Fantasy originated nearly three years ago “at an informal meeting during the Tokyo Game Show to express admiration for each other’s work.” If you go back and watch last November’s trailer for Final Fantasy 15, as well as the announcement and Gamescom trailers for Assassin’s Creed Origins, you might catch some Easter eggs hinting at the mashup.

“This collaboration is the result of being huge fans,” said Ashraf Ismail, Origins game director at Ubisoft Montreal. “There’s a lot of respect between the two teams and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the opportunity to pay homage to each other’s work.”

There’s no information yet on whether Final Fantasy 15 will show up in Assassin’s Creed Origins somehow, but here’s one thing that would work: Cindy’s outfit would be more appropriate for a desert setting, that’s for sure.

This is just the latest out-of-left-field DLC crossover involving Final Fantasy 15 and other products. Previous brands include Cup Noodles and Forza Horizon 3. The Assassin’s Festival event will run for a limited time — it’s scheduled to end Jan. 31, 2018.
