Indie developer Krillbite Studios has announced that it is very close to announcing release details for the upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible title, Among The Sleep. The developer confirmed as much in an update on its Steam page, suggesting that details for the PC, Mac and Linux release weren’t as far off as some may think and that even the full release itself was fast approaching. The title is set to arrive with full support for the Oculus Rift VR headset.

“Lots of things are happening simultaneously right now”, the developer wrote. “Most importantly, we’re actually approaching the release of Among the Sleep! We couldn’t be more thrilled, even though it’s a bit hard to comprehend… Anyhow, we’re very super-close to announcing more release details – it’s not as far off as you might think.”

The post went on to reveal that Krillbite Studios is currently working on testing and polishing the title, including optimisation of its Oculus Rift VR headset support as well as making improvements to visuals, localisation, menus and adding full gamepad support.

A picture showing the names of Kickstarter backers as they would appear in the credits was also picutred, as seen below. “A good sign that we’re approaching the end, is that we’re implementing the credits,” the post concluded. “Look at that endless list of wonderful names from our Kickstarter!”

Among The Sleep is a first-person horror experience in which users play as a 2 year old child, exploring strange noises heard in the middle of the night. Earlier this week Krillbite Studios confirmed that it would be bringing the title to PlayStation 4 with support for the Project Morpheus VR headset. These release details don’t refer to that newly announced version, though the team said at the time that it would make sure Kickstarter backers got ‘a fair deal’ out of the console edition. VRFocus will continue to follow Among The Sleep and report back with all the latest.
