From Battlefront to No Man's Sky, here's what to expect this year.


This has been an incredible year for games and we're only halfway through. There's still an overwhelming lineup of big games coming our way before the end of the holiday season. Here's a healthy look at what you can get your hands on in the coming months.

August

Rare Replay – August 4

Maybe the best bang for your buck all year, the Rare Replay is an incredible 30-game collection of classics coming exclusively to Xbox One that spans the history of the developer. What's more, there are up to 10,000 Achievement Points to pad out your Gamerscore, but here's everything you need to know about the Rare Replay collection.



September

Mad Max – September 1

Games tied to movies have historically had a rough time, but if Warner Bros.’ forthcoming Mad Max game explores any more of the amazing Mad Max: Fury Road universe, it should be just fine. Now you can find open-world post-apocalyptic survival, high-speed vehicular combat, and eating dog food straight from the can all in one place.



Metal Gear Solid V – September 1

It's been a long time coming but the wait for Kojima's open-world stealth game is almost over. In the mean time, let these awesome Phantom Pain details you might have missed, our huge Metal Gear Solid V hands-on preview, or this whopping Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain 40-minute demo hold you over.



Tearaway Unfolded – September 8

Media Molecule's endearing Vita-exclusive platforming adventure, which was nothing short of amazing, is now coming to the PS4 for more arts and crafts. Not just a straight port from handheld to console, Tearaway Unfolded will include a new control scheme, higher resolution, and improved frame rate.



Super Mario Maker – September 11

What's not to want about Super Mario Maker? A suite of tools to create and play any Mario experience you can imagine, from hundreds of nostalgia-laced courses, to insanely cruel challenges.



Destiny: The Taken King – September 15

The next chapter in the Destiny saga is loaded with more of what you know and want. There are new multiplayer maps and modes, as well as new missions, strikes, subclasses, gear, items, and one pissed off monarch wielding an extra-dimensional army bent on revenge for what you did to his son. Way to go, guardians.



Forza Motorsport 6 – September 15

The world's definitive simulation racing series is great every single year and this time around looks to be no exception. Take a tour of our Forza Motorsport 6 hands-on preview, and while you're in the driving spirit, you might be interested in Forza's exhaustive list of already announced cars.



Mighty No. 9 – September 15

The long-awaited side-scrolling action game from Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune is going to finally arrive this September after its incredible Kickstarter success ignited its development.



FIFA 16 – September 22

This year's installment of the long-running soccer series includes balance changes to the core systems, and introduces entirely new elements like FIFA Trainer and the introduction of Women’s Teams. Here are the biggest changes coming to FIFA 16.



Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 – September 25

After more than a decade without a true numbered entry in the Pro Skater series, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 aims to make the controls easier to pick up with new tweaks, while retaining the complexity that masters of the series can tap into. But it's also sporting create-a-park, dedicated servers, a free-skate mode with other players, and nearly 20 multiplayer maps for you social skaters.



NBA 2K16 – September 29

You can still look forward to this year's entry in 2K's excellent basketball franchise, with acclaimed filmmaker Spike Lee writing and directing 2K16's MyCareer mode.



Adr1ft – TBA

Stuck in space in an oxygen-leaking suit, floating through your space station's wreckage, and with nothing but the terrifying silence of space to keep you company, Adr1ft is a tense first-person experience from Three One Zero.

October

Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance – October 6

The tactical role-playing game and next entry in the series, Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance is coming exclusively to the PS4, and finds the Overlords of the Netherworlds rising up against the evil demon emperor Void Dark. When we saw Disgaea 5 at E3 2015, it was every bit the game you've come to expect from the Disgaea series.



November

Need for Speed – November 3

The high-octane racing series is getting the reboot treatment and Need for Speed already looks phenomenal.



Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 – November 6

Every November Call of Duty returns with arguably the biggest first-person shooter on the market. We have everything you need to know about Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, including its unique characters, super-powered abilities, and crazy, lethal weapons. Oh, and a brand-new, fully fleshed out Zombies mode.



Fallout 4 – November 10

War never changes and neither does the excitement over the next proper Fallout from Bethesda. IGN has every awesome detail on Fallout 4 we could find, so lock yourself in your vault and start studying up in preparation for November 10.



Rise of the Tomb Raider – November 10

Crystal Dynamics' next chapter in the adventures of Lara Croft is right around the corner. And in our extended Rise of the Tomb Raider E3 preview, we saw a sequel that looks to give players the option to move away from bloodshed and more of a focus on its namesake.



Star Wars Battlefront – November 17

It's been so, so long since we've been able to live out the epic, sci-fi battles of the Star Wars universe -- this year that changes. Star Wars Battlefront absolutely blew us away at E3 2015, taking home IGN's Game of the Show honors. We saw the classic battle of Hoth unfold for the first time, slaughtered with Luke Skywalker, and collected every Star Wars Battlefront detail we could.



XCOM 2 – TBA

Another long-awaited sequel in an excellent series, XCOM 2 is the PC-exclusive return to Firaxis Games' spectacular reboot of the franchise. While we know it's coming in November, there's no concrete date yet, but for literally everything else you could want to know, check out our complete IGN First XCOM 2 coverage.

Just Cause 3 – December 1

Sometimes all you need to be truly happy is a wide open space, a grappling hook, and tons of explosives. Avalanche Studios' open-world action series has those in spades, and from the looks of it, Just Cause 3 encourages more creativity and destruction than ever before.

No Man's Sky – TBA 2015

It's hard not to be excited about the possibilities of No Man's Sky and its seemingly endless generated worlds. In the mean time, IGN First has everything you need to know about No Man's Sky.

Capy Games' mysterious Below has been on the horizon for years, but we'll finally be able to delve its depths as the tiny wanderer later this year.

The Witness – TBA 2015

The next game from Braid Developer Jonathan Blow was missing from E3 2015, despite it being reportedly content complete. Though there's no release date outside of this year, all signs still point to a 2015 launch.

Hyper Light Drifter – TBA 2015

Heart Machine's gorgeous 2D action RPG, Hyper Light Drifter, is another indie darling years in the making and slated to arrive before year's end.

Firewatch – TBA 2015

Campo Santo's beautiful first-person experience is shaping up to be an exceptional tale of exploration and interaction. Be sure to check out our IGN First deep dive into Firewatch.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes – TBA 2015

A co-op multiplayer adventure game for up to three players that's coming to 3DS, Zelda Tri Force Heroes will also come loaded with a player-verus-player mode that can be played locally or online.

Star Fox Zero – TBA 2015

Nintendo's classic space shooter series starring a veritable barnyard of fighter pilots is coming to Wii U. Though there's no online multiplayer included, Star Fox Zero is sporting plenty of new mechanics.
