E3 is over for another year, but that's not to say the fun has come to an end. Far from it, in fact, as E3 2015 played host to some of the most exciting game premieres and trailers ever, and we can't wait to find out more and ultimately get our hands on the games for hours of entertainment. So we've put together our pick of the top 12 highlights from E3 2015. These are in no particular order, but make sure you let us know which were your favourites and if there are any you think we missed out in the comments section.

Fallout 4

Fallout 4 was unveiled in the days leading up to E3 2015, but Bethesda used its first ever E3 press conference as the "world premiere" of the game and it looks amazing. Even cooler is the Pip Boy Edition which includes an actual Pip-Boy replica. Watch the premiere above and find out more in our Fallout 4 round-up.

The Division

We finally got a release date for Tom Clancy's The Division but it's not this side of Christmas. After being unveiled a who two years ago at E3 2013, we had hoped to be able to buy the game in 2014 but it looks like we're waiting until 8 March 2016. While it's still a long way to go, we're simply pleased to finally know a release date, and the E3 2015 gameplay video (above) looks fantastic.

Star Fox Zero

Maybe not the most obvious of awesome announcements, but for old-school gamers Star Fox Zero for Wii U is a really exciting new game from Nintendo. We felt that Nintendo's keynote was actually a bit of a let down overall, with no talk about Zelda for Wii U or the new NX console, and particularly for PC Advisor's Chris Martin, no Diddy Kong Racing 2. But we are excited about StarFox 2, and you can watch the trailer for that above.

Final Fantasy 7 remake

For many, this will be the number one announcement of E3. There's no doubt that Final Fantasy is one of the most famous and loved game franchises in the world, but Final Fantasy 7 is the ultimate favourite and it looks like Square Enix knows it. Much to Final Fantasy fans' delight, the company is remaking Final Fantasy 7 complete with new generation graphics that quite frankly look stunning.

Shenmue 3

Another one for the fans is Shenmue 3. Shenmue 2 was released in 2001 but the project was stopped on chapter six despite originally being planned for 11 chapters. So the news that Shenmue 3 is a possibility is a pretty big deal. It's still a long way off (we're talking 2017 and beyond), but the good news is that the game has already smashed its Kickstarter target of $2,000,000 (at time of writing it has 41,843 backers who've pledged $3,320,481 and there's still 28 days to go).

Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands was unveiled by Ubisoft at E3 2015. It's a first person shooter with a twist, because it's set in a massive, responsive open world. There's 4 player co-op mode or solo play available, too. Find out more in our Ghost Recon: Wildlands article and watch the reveal trailer above.

Kingdom Hearts 3

PC Advisor's Ashleigh Allsopp's favourite part of E3 2015 was the new Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer. It looks amazing, with new features including the ability to transform the keyblade (how cool is that?). We also found out one of the new worlds that Sora will visit in Kingdom Hearts 3: Tangled. You'll get a glimpse of it in trailer above, and you can find out loads more about the game in our Kingdom Hearts 3 rumour round-up.

Xbox

Microsoft's Xbox announcements were particularly exciting, too. The company unveiled a new Xbox One with a 1TB drive before E3 kicked off, but new details were shared during its keynote that made many Xbox fans super-excited. The first is backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 games, which will start with 100 Xbox titles that'll be playable on the new console at the end of the year, and the second is a brand-new controller called Elite, which offers remappable controls and a directional pad that can be swapped out.

Horizon Zero Dawn

An all-new post apocalyptic game is in development, and we can't wait to play it. It's called Horizon Zero Dawn, and features incredible-looking machine dinosaur-like beasts that it's your job to hunt. It's another game we're not expecting to be able to play for quite some time, but the first trailer has us tempted to pre-order already.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

We now know that Mass Effect 4 is actually called Andromeda, and should arrive towards the end of next year. BioWare and EA have been teasing the game for years, but we finally got a good look at it in the E3 2015 trailer shown above.

The Last Guardian

The Last Guardian has had a rocky start, to say the least. It's actually been in development since 2007, and was announced at E3 back in 2009. However, the game suffered from numerous delay, but E3 2015 represented the reintroduction of the game, which is expected to be released on PS4 next year.

Dishonored 2

Bethesda used its E3 2015 conference to unveil Dishonored 2, the sequel to the 2012 game for PS3 and Xbox 360. It's expected in the second quarter of 2016. We got a sneak peek of the game ahead of the official unveiling because Bethesda accidentally broadcast a bit of the E3 presentation rehearsal to the world. Whoops!

other games announced and talked about at E3 2015:

Hitman | Doom | Halo 5: Guardians | Rise of the Tomb Raider | Forza Motorsport 6 | Mirror's Edge Catalyst | Star Wars Battlefront | FIFA 16 | Call of Duty Black Ops 3 | Assassin's Creed: Syndicate | Tom Clancy Rainbow Six Siege | Uncharted 4: A Thief's End | Project Morpheus | No Man's Sky | Just Cause 3
