Warning: SPOILERS lie ahead for Wednesday season 1.

Following the success of season 1, Wednesday showrunners reveal how many seasons are already planned for the Netflix series. Based on characters from The Addams Family, Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega as the titular firstborn daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams, portrayed by Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Produced and directed by Tim Burton, the gothic coming-of-age horror/comedy sees the contemptuous, defiant teen enrolled in the fictional Nevermore Academy in Jericho, Vermont after being expelled from her high school. Discovering she has psychic abilities, Wednesday uses her powers at the new school for outcasts to help solve a murder, uncover a mysterious stalker, and save her classmates from a force trying to rid the school of its misfits.

Now, in a new interview with Variety, showrunner Miles Millar reveals how many seasons are already planned for Wednesday. While a season 2 renewal has yet to come, Millar reveals his plans are already in the making if the opportunity arises. Check out what Millar has to say about Wednesday's future below:

What Wednesday Season 2 Could Be About

The Wednesday season 1 finale offered both answers and questions, wrapping up a few key plot lines, but also opening more to be explored in season 2. While the mystery of Wednesday's stalker identity was finally revealed to be her peer, Tyler (Hunter Doohan), it seems a new force will take center stage in season 2. As Tyler is in Wednesday's captivity, the threatening text messages she receives proves a new creature is lurking behind her, and it's clear she will need to deal with whatever it is in a potential Wednesday season 2.

Not only does the mysterious stalker leave plenty of material to be covered in Wednesday season 2, but the finale left a question mark over the status of antagonist Laurel Gates (Christina Ricci). While it seems the predominant conflict will surround solving this new threat, audiences still need to learn what will become of Laurel, the Hyde monster not only controlling Tyler, but also on a mission to uphold her family's legacy of eradicating outcasts. Although it seemed as though Wednesday defeated Laurel, season 2 will need to reveal exactly what happened to her.

However, whether Wednesday will return to Nevermore Academy will need to be addressed before anything else, as she was expelled last season for defying Principal Weens (Gwendoline Christie). And if she does return, a replacement will need to be put in place for Weens, who fell to the hands of Laurel. As the principal plays a critical role in contrasting Wednesday's defiant nature, season 2 could explore the school's new administrator. While Wednesday has yet to be renewed for a season 2, based on initial critical and viewer response, and the endless amount of material it could explore, an announcement seems likely to come soon.
