Apple TV+ has released a brand-new trailer for the forthcoming Vietnam War dramedy film The Greatest Beer Run Ever, starring Zac Efron. Based on the book of the same name by Joanna Molloy and John "Chickie" Donohue, The Greatest Beer Run Ever is set in 1967 and tells the story of Donohue himself, a 26-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran, as he embarks on a bizarre quest to track down his fellow buddies in combat during the Vietnam War to deliver messages of support from back home and personally bring them American beer. The film also features a supporting cast that includes Bill Murray, Russell Crowe, Jake Picking, Will Ropp, Archie Renaux, and Kyle Allen.

In a new trailer for The Greatest Beer Run Ever, released by Apple TV, the spotlight is on Efron's Donohue. The trailer begins with Donohue in the thick of the action in Vietnam, where he runs side-by-side with a fellow soldier in the middle of a battlefield. The protagonist then recounts the events that led up to that moment, starting with his mundane life in New York City as a merchant seaman. When his bartender friend proposes the idea of tracking down their friends in Vietnam and delivering them beer, Donohue makes the bizarre decision to personally carry out the outlandish mission. The Greatest Beer Run Ever marks Dumb and Dumber director Peter Farrelly's first directorial venture since his Academy Award-winning 2018 film Green Book. As for Efron, the film is set to be his third onscreen credit in 2022, following the survival thriller film Gold and the Stephen King adaptation Firestarter. The High School Musical star has shown a knack for portraying real-life figures since playing Ted Bundy in 2019's Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, as he is also set to appear in the A24 feature project The Iron Claw, based on the Von Erich family. The Greatest Beer Run Ever promises another strong entry into Efron's filmography and what could also be a potential awards season contender with a September 30th release date in theaters and on Apple TV+.
