While Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been breaking records left and right, the film was no match for the selling power of Yo-Kai Watch in Japan.

According to Yahoo! Movies (via Kotaku), Yo-Kai Watch the Movie 2: King Enma and the 5 Stories, Nyan! was the number one movie in Japan over the weekend, selling 975,000 tickets. Meanwhile, J.J. Abrams' space epic placed second with 800,000 tickets sold.

It's important to note that Japan measures the success of a film based on the number of tickets sold rather than revenue earned. Since ticket prices for children are cheaper and Yo-Kai's target audience is young kids, Yo-Kai Watch 2 actually made less money than The Force Awakens, earning $8.71 million versus Star Wars' $10.3 million.
