Warner Bros.í Wonder Woman is set to become the 20th highest-grossing film in the United States. The film which stars Gal Gadot as the titular character and Chris Pine as Steve Trevor tackles the origin story of one of DCís most popular characters. Patty Jenkins directed the movie released back in June and has just been recently crowned as this summerís biggest film.

Wonder Womanís success in terms of box office has been nothing short of impressive. It has recently crossed the $400 million line in domestic ticket sales, joining an elite number of movies that were able to do so. Over all, it has already pocketed more than $800 million, catapulting DCEUís total haul to more than $3 billion with just four properties. But more than that, it renewed confidence in Warnersí superhero franchise especially as its last ventures were mostly divisive in terms of reception.

According to a new report by Forbes , Wonder Woman has earned an additional $445,000 from Friday to Sunday increasing its total domestic revenue to $408.9 million. This effectively pushes the movie past Lionsgateís The Hunger Games and Marvel Studiosí Captain America: Civil War. Additionally, sales projections for the film for the whole Labor Day weekend duration is said to be around $409 million, further advancing the DCEU offering past another Marvel property in Iron Man 3 . This will officially make the film the fifth biggest superhero movie in North America only behind The Avengers , Avengers: Age of Ultron , The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises , as well as, the 20th highest grossing movie ever domestically.

Jenkins has recently admitted that while she hoped for the best, she did not expect the kind of warm reception that Wonder Woman received. The director is currently close to inking a new deal with Warner Bros. to return behind the camera for filmís sequel and although no official announcement has been made, word has it that she is up for a huge pay raise that would make her the highest paid female director in Hollywood. Narrative specifics regarding Wonder Woman 2 are still scant but if anything, the follow-up, which is set for a 2019 release , could once again be a period piece like its predecessor.

As we wait for the Wonder Woman sequel, fans can next catch the Amazonian goddess alongside some of DCís biggest heroes like Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) fighting Steppenwolf and his Parademons in Justice League . Meanwhile, for those who want to relive Dianaís WWI adventure, her origin story is now available for Digital Download followed by its DVD/Blu-ray release on Tuesday, September 19.
