As Netflix's The Witcher season 2 gears up to start filming this month, the fantasy series reportedly casts Paul Bullion and Yasen Atour as two more witchers, Lambert and CoŽn. The Witcher season 1 premiered on Netflix in late December and became a huge hit for the streaming service. The show is based on the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, which also serve as the source material for the video games from CD Projekt Red. Netflix's The Witcher tells the story of a monster hunter named Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) who was mutated and trained to be a witcher.

Even before season 1 debuted, Netflix renewed The Witcher for season 2, but indicated the sophomore season wouldn't release until 2021. Considering how long it took to film and produce season 1, that's not a surprise, but fans are eager to get their hands on The Witcher season 2. After Geralt finally united with his child of surprise, Ciri (Freya Allen) in The Witcher season 1 finale, fans have speculated about what will happen and which characters will appear in season 2. Now as The Witcher season 2 is set to start filming this month, new cast members have reportedly joined the production.

As reported by Redanian Intelligence, The Witcher season 2 will introduce two witchers, Lambert and CoŽn, who will appear in three episodes. Paul Bullion (Peaky Blinders) will take on the role of Lambert, while Yasen Atour (Young Wallander) will play CoŽn. Both appeared in Sapkowski's original novels, helping to train Ciri in combat while she lived at the witcher keep of Kaer Morhen. Lambert also appeared in The Witcher video games, having an antagonistic relationship with sorceress Triss Merigold.

Netflix's The Witcher season 2 adding Lambert and CoŽn is indicative of the story diving deeper into the world's lore and history of the different witcher schools. Both Geralt and Lambert hail from the School of the Wolf, which is based out of Kaer Morhen in the northern part of The Continent, but CoŽn belongs to the School of the Griffin, which is headquartered elsewhere. Since more witchers are joining the series in season 2, and not just witchers from the School of the Wolf, the audience may learn about what differentiates the schools and what kind of relationship the witchers from these schools have with each other.

Now that Geralt and Ciri are finally united, it's been expected audiences will get to see what Kaer Morhen actually looks like in season 2 after being referenced a few times in season 1. In the source material, Geralt and Ciri live at Kaer Morhen while the latter trains in combat. This storyline was recently teased by Allen, who posted a photo of a sword to her Instagram, leading many fans to speculate the Cintran princess would be trained by Geralt and his fellow witchers in season 2. That appears to be all but confirmed with the addition of Lambert and CoŽn.

While the news of adding Lambert and CoŽn as new characters in The Witcher has excited many fans, there are still two important characters missing from the lineup: Geralt's mentor Vesemir and his friend Eskel. Both are integral parts of Geraltís history as a witcher. Now that Bullion and Atourís roles have been reportedly revealed, news on the potential actors playing Vesemir and Eskel is sure to follow soon, especially as filming begins on The Witcher season 2.
