William Shatner Shoots Demons With A Shotgun In Devil’s Revenge Trailer

William Shatner shoots demons with a shotgun in the first trailer for the horror film Devil’s Revenge. In an acting career spanning seven decades, Shatner has starred in everything from Westerns to historical epics to terrible B-movies to cop shows. But of course, the actor is still best-known for playing Captain James T. Kirk on Star Trek The Original Series and in the first seven Star Trek theatrical films. And if Shatner gets his way, he’ll make at least one more appearance as Kirk in Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek film.

Shatner’s latest film may not be a Star Trek movie, but it does have a strong Trek connection thanks to the presence of Shatner as well as fellow Trek alums Jeri Ryan and Jason Brooks, not to mention screenwriter Maurice Hurley, who also wrote several Star Trek: TNG episodes. Directed by Jared Cohn, Devil’s Revenge concerns a down-on-his-luck archaeologist (Brooks) who undertakes an expedition to a mysterious cave containing an ancient relic that, much to his bad luck, also happens to be a portal to Hell. Tampering in the cave causes a curse to be visited upon the archaeologist and his family, and the only way to stop it is to return to the cave and destroy the relic.

Cleopatra Entertainment has now dropped a trailer for Devil’s Revenge, and it’s safe to say the movie looks a little on the crazy side. There's also a new poster for the Shatner-led horror film. Both can be seen in the space below:

The very straight-forward trailer basically lays out the movie’s plot, while giving audiences a pretty large helping of the film’s demonic antagonists. Shatner himself seems to have a smaller role in the film, playing the gun-toting father of the archaeologist who unleashed the curse. The 88-year-old Shatner does get one chance to flash his legendary acting skills in the trailer, snarling at Brooks’ character that he has to go back and find the cave relic in order to end the curse against their family (it's a toss-up who is scarier, Shatner or the demons).

Devil's Revenge definitely looks like a B-level production all around, though the design of the demons is pretty terrifying. Of course, the big attraction is the presence of Shatner, who despite being almost 90 is showing no signs of slowing down as an actor. Shatner’s fans will no doubt get a kick out of watching the legendary performer kick some demon butt alongside Star Trek: Voyager’s Ryan (who is herself set to return to the Trek universe as Seven Of Nine in CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Picard).

Devil’s Revenge hits VOD on October 1, 2019.

Let's hope it's fairly good and not just another third-rate horror film.
