Will Kingsman 3 Happen? Here’s What Taron Egerton Says

When Kingsman: The Secret Service first hit theaters, no one was terribly concerned with thinking about sequels. Then the movie knocked it out of the park by with its R-rated violence, kinetic action, and fun characters making it one of the surprise hits of the year. Now all eyes are on the sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and even though we haven't even seen a teaser yet, some people are already talking about a third movie. When asked if we should be expecting a Kingsman 3 in the future, series star Taron Egerton said it could very well be a possibility, although the sequel still needs to come out first.

Matthew is a very much 'Don't count the chickens before they've hatched' kind of guy, but he also has a real sense of Kingsman being his baby and he won't jeopardise it with a crap idea. So it depends what occurs, and whether it feels right to him, but I don't think for a second that either he or myself, the lovely people at Fox and whoever else is interested in Kingsman, wouldn't completely love it if this is a continuing series.

Taron Egerton, who plays street rough turned gentlemen spy Eggsy in the Kingsman series, sat down to chat with Den of Geek about his role as a signing gorilla in Sing. The conversation, of course, had to turn to Kingsman, and Egerton was asked if a Kingsman 3 could possibly be somewhere down the road. While studios sometimes greenlight sequels before the first movie has even released, that might be a bit too far in the future to think about right now, and Egerton said that it wouldn't be something they rushed into. Matthew Vaughn, who wrote and directed both of the Kingsman films, wasn't even sure he wanted to do a second movie before he came up with a villain and storyline he loved. Let's get that first Golden Circle trailer before we think of number three, okay?

It may be too early to be considering making Kingsman 3, but that doesn't mean that Taron Egerton (and all of us) wouldn't be down for suiting up one more time. If the story is good enough the talent will come, and if it makes enough money then you know the studio will want more too. If Matthew Vaughn were to come up with another fun plot for the classy spies that he likes, then Kingsman 3 is probably an inevitability.

Based on what we've heard about The Golden Circle, let's hope Matthew Vaughn and company opt to return for a third. The sequel will take Eggsy and crew out of London for a more international story, teaming them up with the American equivalent of the Kingsman. Julianne Moore plays the new villain that is said to rival Samuel L. Jackson's from the first film, while Jeff Bridges and Halle Berry join the cast as American Kingsman. Oh, and Colin Firth is somehow back as Harry Hart, who received a bullet to the face midway through Secret Service.
