In the past, Jeremy Renner has been a bit wishy-washy in regards to whether or not his Marvel Cinematic Universe character - Hawkeye - should ever get his own solo film. He's said before that he is more than happy to remain a utility player in larger ensemble projects, but has added that there is certainly a lot to explore with the character and that the future is nice and mysterious over at Marvel Studios. At this point we really have no idea if a Hawkeye movie will ever happen, but there is one new avenue that has caught Renner's eye: the Marvel Netflix shows.

The actor was a special guest this weekend at the newly launched Silicon Valley Comic Con, and he had the opportunity to discuss the "Netflix model" when asked about it during a spotlight panel. According to ComicBook.com, Jeremy Renner was asked if he'd be interested in making something akin to Daredevil or Jessica Jones with his Hawkeye character, and Renner was certainly receptive to the idea:

I think that's actually a really great model, if there's ever a way to explore the character, maybe it's in that world. These are things that are really not in my control, but I'd be open to it. I've really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently. The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now, you're doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I'd be open to it. Not up to me, though.

Given that there is 13 hours of material to work with instead of just two, it's not exactly hard to see why the Netflix direction would be attractive to an actor looking to dive more into the mind space of their character versus a feature film. Hawkeye certainly has plenty of source material that could be adapted in this medium - particularly the acclaimed, fairly recent run by writer Matt Fraction and artist David Aja that teamed Clint Barton with his Young Avengers-member protege Kate Bishop.

Marvel Netflix shows are on everyone's mind this week thanks to the launch of Daredevil Season 2 this past Friday, and given how great the series is, many fans have been buzzing about the potential of seeing other characters explored in similar fashion. Superhero fans are now wondering just how long it will take for Jon Bernthal's The Punisher to get his own show... though we're also still waiting for the previously announced Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the big event series The Defenders.
