For a franchise known for having crazy things that don't make much sense, Transformers: The Last Knight feels like it might be the craziest. Taking inspiration from Arthurian legend, the film is mashing robots with medieval knights, and it's certainly got out attention. We don't know how it's all supposed to come together, but at least we know when the first teaser for the film is going to drop. Director Michael Bay has heard the demands for footage and personally revealed when we can expect to see the first teaser for the next Robots in Disguise.

Taking to Facebook to make the announcement, Michael Bay revealed that the first teaser for Transformers: The Last Knight will air on December 16. It'll be attached in theaters to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, guaranteeing at least a five million people will see it. What's in the trailer is unclear, but I would imagine it will have transforming, explosions, and maybe some product placement for good measure.

The plot for Transformers: The Last Knight has been kept under wraps, but production has teased a few details to the masses. The film will somehow connect the Transformers to King Arthur and medieval times, much like how Transformers: Age of Extinction linked with the incident that wiped out the dinosaurs. There will be flashbacks to Arthur and his Round Table, with rumors that the sword Excalibur is actually an ancient Transformers weapon.

Optimus Prime and Bumblebee will return, as well as most of their crew from Age of Extinction. Megatron will also make his big comeback in the film, no longer going by Galvatron. On the human side of things, Mark Wahlberg returns as inventor Cade Yaeger to help his robot pals. Stanley Tucci will also reprise his role as Joshua Joyce, otherwise known as The Best Human Character. The Last Knight will also feature the returns of several human characters from the original trilogy; Josh Duhamel is back as Lt. Colonel William Lennox, as well as John Turturro's hit or miss Agent Simmons.

Though we may be in a drought of actual footage from the film, Michael Bay and team have been keeping fans updated and happy with special behind-the-scenes videos, showcasing crazy action and looks at new designs for Bumblebee and the like. If these films are your thing, then it looks like there's going to be a lot to love when The Last Knight finally rolls around.

With a Bumblebee spin-off planned, as well as a supposed Hasbro Cinematic Universe connecting the Transformers franchise with G.I. Joe in the works, it doesn't look like Transformers is going away anytime soon. Transformers: The Last Knight is scheduled to hit theaters on June 23, 2017.
