THE Great British Bake Off remains, for many, the highlight of their summer, but in recent years, the show's Christmas special has also been a treat for baking fans.

And it looks like this year's Christmas special will be no different as the judges and hosts are set to return for another festive treat - but when will it air and who is taking part? Here's the lowdown...

When is the Great British Bake Off Christmas special on Channel 4?
The iconic baking show's Christmas special will air on Christmas Day (Tuesday, December 25).

It will kick off on Channel 4 at 8pm, but that's not all.

Come New Year's Day, there will be another special at 7.40 pm.

Prue Leith will be alongside Paul Hollywood once again and presenters Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding will also be back to preside over the festive fun.

Who will be appearing?
Last year a number of series seven bakers made a return to the show, with baker Selasi Gbormittah leading the fore.

This year's Christmas episode will have 2017 contestants Liam Charles and Flo Atkins battle it out to be the Christmas Star Baker alongside Andrew Smyth and Jane Beedle from 2016.

As for the New Year's installment, 2014's Kate Henry and Dr. Tamal Ray will be there, as well as 2016 champion Candice Brown and 2017 finalist Steven Carter-Bailey.

Also, while the Christmas episode is set to have the rock band The Darkness appear, we'll see The London Gay Men's Chorus in the New Year special.
