The Long Song

BBC One – December 18, 19, 20 at 9pm

This three-part series stars Lenny Henry. Set during the final days of slavery in 19th century Jamaica, the story follows the strong-willed, young slave July on a plantation owned by her odious mistress Caroline Mortimer.

Watership Down

BBC One – December 22, 7pm, and December 23 7.20pm

The classic tale tells the story of a group of rabbits fleeing human violence and the impending destruction of their home.

This new mini-series features the voices of James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult.

Click and Collect

BBC One – December 24 at 9pm

Click and Collect stars Stephen Merchant and tells the story of two men motoring across the country on Christmas Eve, driving each other crazy along the way, to pick up a toy that will make one girl’s Christmas dreams come true.

BBC One – Christmas Day at 4.50pm

The animated special is a one-off and will last for half an hour. The special is based on Zog, a character written by The Gruffalo creators Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special

BBC One – Christmas Day at 5.30pm

Six celebs return to dance it out for this festive edition of the hit show.

Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas Special

BBC One – Chrismas Day at 10.15pm

Brendan O’Carroll will be back with his festive offering of his hit TV show. Father Damian has organised a Christmas decoration contest and Agnes is keen to enter.

Call The Midwife

BBC One – Christmas Day at 7.45pm

The hit show returns for its annual festive offering. The full plot is being kept a secret but we do know that Sister Mildred (played by Miriam Margolyes) arrives unexpectedly at Nonnatus House with four Chinese orphans.

The Midnight Gang

BBC One – Boxing Day at 7.30pm

David Walliams returns with another of his books being adapted for the BBC. Posh boarding school lad Tom embarks on the journey of a lifetime after waking up on the kids’ ward at Lord Funt Hospital.

The ABC Murders

BBC One – Boxing Day, December 27 and 28 at 9pm

The ABC Murders is based on the classic 1936 Agatha Christie novel. John Malkovich takes on the lead role of Hercule Poirot who must unmask a serial killer.

Dominic West will star as Jean Val Jean

Take That: We’ve Come A Long Way
BBC One – December 28 at 7pm

To celebrate 30 years in the charts, Take That and Us will feature fans from all over the country and beyond sharing their stories of how the most successful boy band in UK chart history touched their lives – and in some cases, changed their world completely.

Les Miserables

BBC One – December 30 at pm

The six-part adaptation has been produced by Andrew Davies, the man behind BBC’s War and Peace.

Though it may not be on the scale of Hooper’s 2012 production, the BBC has lined up a number of stars to take on the leads in its version of Les Mis, including Dominic West and Olivia Coleman.

Doctor Who

BBC One – New Year’s Day at 7pm

Doctor Who fans won’t have their usual Christmas Day fix this year, instead it will be on New Year’s Day.

Luther

BBC One – January 1, 2, 3, 4 at 9pm

The hotly anticipated fifth series of Luther starring Idris Elba will kick off on New Year’s Day.

A teaser trailer put out by the BBC in early November showed the detective facing a gruesome interrogation at the hands of George. However Luther turns the tables on his captors in typically stylish fashion.

Love Island: The Christmas Reunion

ITV – December 17 at 9pm

This Love Island reunion will see Caroline Flack reunite nineteen of its most talked about Islanders as they gather for the ultimate festive get together.

The Jonathan Ross Show

ITV – December 22 at 9pm

The chatty host will be back with a whole host of celebrity guests, including Gillian Anderson, Rob Lowe, Rahul Mandal, Tom Allen and Sheridan Smith.

CHANNEL 4

Bad Move Christmas Special

ITV – December 24 at 8.30pm

Jack Dee and Kerry Godliman return for the special. The married couple face more struggles after escaping the city.

Torvill and Dean

ITV – Christmas Day at 9.15pm

Anita Dobson and Stephen Tompkinson star in this biopic piece about Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

Channel 4
Bake Off Christmas Special

Channel 4 – Christmas Day at 8pm

Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood will be back for a yummy festive edition of the show.

The Inbetweeners: Fwends Reunited

Channel 4 – New Year’s Day at 9pm

Simon Bird, James Buckley, Joe Thomas, and Blake Harrison are back for a Christmas special to mark the show’s tenth anniversary. The documentary will feature special guests and unseen footage.
