Mike Myers made people laugh with his trademark brand of humor and character acting ever since he'd broken onto the scene in the 1990s, with his star only climbing after his successful trilogy of Austin Powers films. But around the time that he'd made the film adaptation of The Cat in the Hat, Myers' star was starting to tarnish. Though not all of Myers' career problems were caused by external factors, as a new interview has revealed that fame may have weighed on the Canadian star's head a little too much.

During a round of The A.V. Club's Random Roles interview feature, character actor Amy Hill was quizzed on a select group of the roles that make up her varied resume. Sure enough, her role as babysitter Mrs. Kwan came up in the conversation, as Hill had named it as her most challenging and difficult experience when making a film. It's all because Mike Myers had exhibited some rather interesting behavior, which she recounts below:

He is like a little hermit. He would come in and, I guess, be in hair and makeup. We would wait. I'd be there at the crack of dawn, waiting. We would all be waiting for Mike Myers to come. He had his handlers dress his trailer, and his area was all covered with tenting because he didn't want anybody seeing him. It was so weird. It was just the worst. ... It was just a horrible, nightmarish experience. I don't think he got to know anybody. He'd just be with his people and walk away. People would come and then he'd stand there. There was a guy who held his chocolates in a little Tupperware. Whenever he needed chocolate, he'd come running over and give him a chocolate. That's what divas are like, I guess. Or people who need therapy.

Amy Hill's remarks about Mike Myers aren't all that terribly surprising, considering history has shown us that Myers is allegedly a bit of a control freak. In particular, there were stories about how he had to "bury the hatchet" with the folks he made Wayne's World with, as he'd fought about the ultimate shape and vision of the film's final cut. Though if the stories about his personality didn't hurt his career to the point of near extinction, films like The Cat in the Hat and The Love Guru certainly didn't help. In case you've forgotten the pain of Myers' prosthetic-laden foray into kids' comedy, we've made sure to include a clip that'll help you never forget again.

Eventually, Mike Myers and Amy Hill's paths diverged into their respective places. Hill has been making a name for herself with guest spots on various shows like My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, as well as her role on Lifetime's hit show UnReal. Myers, on the other hand, found himself lying low after The Love Guru, only to make a comeback of sorts with a small role in Inglorious Basterds and his directorial debut through his project Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon. We'd like to think that after all of this time Myers has learned his lesson, especially if word has gotten back to him after this interview was run.

Amy Hill can soon be seen on the CBS show The Great Indoors, as well as on the Amazon kids' show Just Add Magic. Mike Myers can next be seen in the ensemble thriller Terminal, alongside Margot Robbie.
