The best is Se7en, trust me on this.

I also recommend Seven Pounds and Fight Club. Brad Pitt rules as you see.

    Santa Sangre was fantastic.

Who could forget the original super shocker of Salo?

More recently Holy Motors was a great surrealist sort of film.

FYI aja, films do not have genders.

Contrary to popular opinion, Saw is not really a mindf*k. I would call that generic twisted logic. The writer holds the keys and twists the logic since they know all the answers. The end result is most likely exactly what you expect, everyone dies and the bad guy gets away to come back for a sequel another day. How is that the slightest bit surprising? To be fair, I have only seen one of the how ever many of the trilogy, I'm sorry, I just can't be bothered to watch more as I have found no reason to take the franchise seriously.

I think about every film Lars von Trier has made probably comes close to joining said genre. Antichrist certainly stirred up controversy in some camps. I would say it fits in the aforementioned genre very very well.

Michael Haneke Funny Games most certainly fits in that genre.

What do y'all think, would Jacob's Ladder fit into this genre or would it be straight horror?

I don't think that Se7en is a mindf*ck movie... It's one of my favourite movies of all time!
It has a story that could happen easly in the real world, we see so many awkward stories about murders...

Almost everything from Christopher Nolan (minus Batman) is interesting imo. I didn't like Following, but Memento and Inception were fun.

I don't think, if you consider Inception a mindfuck movie, it's the mindfuck the threadstarter meant. A Serbian Film is as far as I know (never seen it) a movie that fits more in the line of the SAW movies. It's horrifying and a sick movie.

If so, try August Underground or just google for false snuff films.

Not my kind of movies tbh.
    Sincerely,

    Monsterboca.
