Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Taserface Details Revealed

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 actor Chris Sullivan – who plays Taserface, member of the Ravagers – teases details about his character. Since it launched with Iron Man in 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has largely taken place on Earth, specifically following Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, The Avengers. But Marvel Studios found success in 2014 with James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which adapted the, at the time, little known comic book property. Since then, the ragtag group of heroes – Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Groot (Vin Diesel), and Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) – have become fan-favorites.

Now, the team is set to return in the next MCU installment, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 expected introduce a number of new characters, as well as induct new members to the titular team. Nebula (Karen Gillan), Yondu (Michael Rooker), and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) are joining the Guardians of the Galaxy in the sequel, while the movie will additionally feature Ego the Living Planet (Kurt Russell), Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki), as well as the Ravagers, a group that will include Taserface.

As part of EW‘s Summer Movie Preview, the outlet interviewed Sullivan about his portrayal of the Ravager character. The actor previewed what fans can expect from Taserface in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2:

Taserface is an intergalactic space pirate, who is in the service of Yondu, and a member of the Ravagers. … Taserface is loud. [Chuckles] Taserface is the defensive lineman on your high school football team. He’s a very loud individual who enjoys pushing people around.

Introduced in the Marvel Comics as an enemy of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Taserface will be a key member of the Ravagers in Vol. 2 as Yondu works more closely with the titular team. As for the sequel itself, Sullivan praised Marvel’s second galactic adventure, which he said builds off of the story and world established in the first movie:

I don’t want to make any promises, but I think it’s better than the first one. I would say it’s more fleshed out, just simply by the fact there was a first one. There’s no need to establish characters, so we get to jump right into the storylines of the main characters at a deeper level. But it’s equally funny, equally as full of amazing music, and, of course, that cast — the Guardians of the Galaxy are pretty hard to match.

Of course, early reactions to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 already indicated the sequel exceeds expectations. But, Sullivan’s assurances that Marvel’s sequel will be just as good, if not better than, the original 2014 movie adds even more positive buzz to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 before it hits theaters early next month. Now, these new details about Taserface additionally help to build anticipation for the release of the sequel – as well as other reveals about Guardians of the Galaxy 2, like Miley Cyrus’ voice cameo. Thankfully for fans who are looking forward to the latest entry in the MCU, there’s only a few weeks left before fans are able to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 for themselves.
