War of the Planet of the Apes -- the next installment in 20th Century Fox's simians vs. humans franchise -- is reportedly gearing up for shooting this fall.

Deadline reports that the Matt Reeves-directed sequel aims to begin filming in October in Vancouver. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes also shot there.

The site adds that young actor Gabriel Chavarria (East Los High, the upcoming Low Riders) "is making his deal now to be one of two human leads." Andy Serkis will reprise his performance-capture role as ape leader Caesar.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes made $481.8 million worldwide, while its followup, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, pulled in $708.8 million globally.

War of the Planet of the Apes is slated for a summer 2017 release.
