Diesel stars as Kaldur, an immortal witch hunter who has lived for centuries and must ally himself with a young sorceress (Game of Thrones‘ Rose Leslie) to thwart an oncoming plague that a nasty coven of witches plans on unleashing. Set in modern-day New York City, The Last Witch Hunter is being billed as supernatural adventure, but it’s still unclear how the film will mesh those more fantastical elements with a modern-day setting.

Further evidence that The Last Witch Hunter will be set – in part – in the past are the images the actor has shared of his character. So far, every look at Kaldur we’ve seen has shown Diesel with a full on mountain man beard and clad in furs, and that’s very much the style and dress of a man from the past. Then again, just about any look can be found in New York City, so maybe Diesel wears this ensemble or something similar for the whole movie.

Again, what Kaldur is shown wearing really gives the impression The Last Witch Hunter is a period fantasy film, and not a witch-hunting adventure set in present-day NYC as the film has been described. Clearly, we’ll need either a trailer or a more elaborate synopsis before we can really know what to expect from The Last Witch Hunter, but Diesel – who is also appearing in this year’s Furious 7 – is really excited for you to know about it.

The Last Witch Hunter opens in U.S. theaters on October 23rd, 2015.
