Martial arts superstar Tony Jaa will star alongside Milla Jovovich in in Monster Hunter, Screen Gems’ adaptation of the Capcom video game.

Jaa joins Hip-hop artist turned actor T.I. Harris and acting vet Ron Perlman in the project, which shoots in South Africa beginning in October with Paul W.S. Anderson in the director's chair.

Anderson, the writer-director behind the video game adaptation franchise Resident Evil, which also starred wife Jovovich, wrote the script and is producing with longtime cohorts Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer.

The game’s premise involves players taking on characters who track and kill monsters, leveling up with weapons and gear.

Jovovich is playing a character named Artemis while Jaa is ostensibly the movie’s male lead, a man simply called The Hunter.

Jaa, the Thai star of the internationally popular Ong-Bak martial arts action movies, has crossed over with appearances in Furious 7 and xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. Jaa will next be seen starring in Triple Threat and in Master Z: The IP Man Legacy, both in postproduction.
