Tomorrowland features Britt Robertson (Under the Dome) and George Clooney as the heroes on a quest to find (as the film’s official synopsis puts it) “an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory.” However, the question of what that place has to do with the eponymous Disney park attraction of the same name has remained unanswered throughout the movie’s trailer marketing – until now.

The above Tomorrowland international promo – which is back on Youtube after having previously been pulled – offers a more in-depth sneak peek at the movie’s (intriguing) mythology, as was partially devised by co-writer/director Brad Bird. Tomorrowland, as explained here by Kathryn Hahn and Keegan-Michael Keys’ characters, is a fantastical vision of what the future could be like – something envisioned by some of the greatest minds of the 20th Century (including old Walt Disney himself).

Enter Casey Newton (Robertson), a teenaged science geek who is literally identified as The Chosen One – who can “save the future” – in the latest Tomorrowland trailer. We also get our first proper look here at Raffey Cassidy’s character: the individual who is responsible for giving Casey the pin that shows its wearer a glimpse of Tomorrowland.

It would also seem Cassidy is the one who greets the young Frank Walker (played by Clooney as an adult) when he’s on the It’s A Small World attraction in Disneyland and stumbles into said titular fantastical realm – something that seems to align with previous rumors about Cassidy’s role in the film (hint: she might be more than she appears at a passing glance).

Disney’s U.S. promos for Tomorrowland keep holding back on the imaginative and creative set pieces teased during the movie’s 2014 New York Comic-Con panel – in fact, domestic marketing has been somewhat lackluster in general, as the new preview calls further attention to. The previews just don’t seem to take proper advantage of a film that has the makings of another visually-inventive (as well as fun and thoughtful) adventure by the director who gave us The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.

It’s certainly possible that neither Tomorrowland nor the original mythos invented for the film - the handiwork of Bird, Damon Lindelof (Prometheus), and Jeff Jensen – will ultimately meet our high expectations. However, there appears to be a good deal of potential on both counts – especially, going by what the latest trailer has to offer (and alludes to).

Rounding out the Tomorrowland cast are such names as Hugh Laurie (House, M.D.), Judy Greer (Archer), Pierce Gagnon (Looper), Chris Bauer (True Blood), and Thomas Robinson (The Protector), among others.

Tomorrowland opens in U.S. theaters on May 22nd, 2015.
