Warner Bros. is developing a Supergirl solo movie and it already has a writer. There's several DC movies making progress at Warner Bros. now that Walter Hamada is taking over. This has signaled a change in their approach with more fun, young, and lighthearted films being made the priorities. There's also been an emphasis put on female-led movies, whether those be Wonder Woman 1984, Birds of Prey, or Batgirl.

One character fans have been dying to see brought back to the big screen, though, is Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl. She currently has her own TV series on The CW, but that looks like it isn't enough exposure for her. Now, WB and DC are looking to bring her to theaters with a solo movie.

Deadline reports 22 Jump Street writer Oren Uziel has been hired to write the script for Warner Bros. and DC Films' Supergirl. There are no other details at this time, but it marks a major move by the studio to get a movie starring a Kryptonian off the ground - even if it isn't the one many would've expected.
