Tom Hardy is Driving, and Angry, and Driving in First Locke Trailer
Writer/director Steven Knight, who made his directorial debut last year with the Jason Statham drama (and sorta actioner) “Redemption,” is a few years late with his own “one man in a single location” movie. A few years ago, there were a rash of these films, where one character — usually a big name like Ryan Reynolds in “Buried” — would be put in a single location and the audience would be forced to watch him squirm and try to escape in real-time. Or real-time-ish, anyway.
That’s basically the premise of Knight’s latest, “Locke,” which he once again writes and directs. Like all the other films using this gimmick, “Locke” is supposedly a “real-time” thriller starring Tom Hardy as a bloke (as they call them over there across the pond) driving alone, across the city who is trying desperately to get control of a variety of situations, all at the same time.
From the looks of this first trailer, he’s not doing a very good job of it. Find out what’s got Tommy boy all messed up, find it outers.
The movie stars Hardy in a car for the full 90 minutes, and features the voices of “The Lone Ranger’s” Ruth Wilson, “Sherlock’s” Andrew Scott, Tom Holland, Olivia Colman, and Ben Daniels.
Opening in UK theaters this April 18th.
