These Guys are Testing to Play Kyle Reese in Terminator: Genesis

So basically studio is just remaking the “Terminator” franchise, even though they’re pretending they’re not, and keep saying this is some kind of pseudo sequel/alternate timeline/something or rather. Basically, it’s a remake. I wonder why they don’t just call it a remake? Just admit you’re mining James Cameron’s jock strap and be done with it, sheesh.

After all, you have all the original players back — Sarah Connor, John Connor, that Austrian guy, and now, the producers are testing actors for Kyle Reese, the gritty freedom fighter from the future played by Michael Biehn in the 1984 original movie.

Kyle Reese shows Sarah Connor how to make bombs, cause he’s romantic that way

The actors who are expected to test for the role of Reese includes Boyd Holbrook, Tom Cocquerel, Wilson Bethel, Sam Reid and Jai Courtney. Apparently the studio had wanted more named actors, but Nicholas Hoult and Garrett Hedlund didn’t feel like debasing themselves by testing, so now the producers are going with the B-team.

Whoever gets the job, they’ll be joining “Game of Thrones’” Emilia Clarke, who will be playing Sarah Connor, the mother of John Connor, to be played by Jason Clarke (no relation to Emilia, though wouldn’t it be hilarious if they were?). “Thor: The Dark World’s” Alan Taylor is helming the film, which is expected to be the first of a trilogy, because why try to make one great movie first when you can just announce you’re doing a trilogy?

Of the five guys listed above, I’m only familiar with Jai Courtney, who is clearly setting his sights on becoming the next Sam Worthington — in terms of cinematic appearances, anyway. Dude is like everywhere these days. So I wouldn’t be surprise if he landed the role. He’s already in 500 movies this year, what’s one more?
