The upcoming Disney+ Star Wars animated anthology series Tales of the Jedi has set a premiere window. The latest animated series in the Star Wars franchise, Tales of the Jedi was first revealed in April 2022 on the Star Wars Celebration website. The series is set to be written and produced by long-time Star Wars collaborator Dave Filoni, who is also overseeing the development of a number of Star Wars series, including the upcoming Ahsoka.

At Star Wars Celebration, more details were revealed about the series. The series will be an anthology series that will see episodes focused on multiple Jedi, including Qui-Gon Jinn, with Liam Neeson reprising his role. Neeson's son Michael Richardson will voice a younger version of the Qui-Gon Jinn in an episode where he was an apprentice to Count Dooku. Unlike past Star Wars animated projects like Star Wars: Clone Wars or Star Wars: Rebels, this will be a collection of shorts spanning six episodes.

Star Wars officially revealed a new logo for Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, which was shared online after being shown at Star Wars Celebration. The series has set a Fall 2022 release date, yet no exact date has been confirmed. See the official logo below:

Tales of the Jedi marks the fourth confirmed Star Wars series for 2022. While the first episode premiered in late 2021, The Book of Boba Fett aired six of its seven episodes in the early half of 2022, and Obi-Wan Kenobi premiered May 26 and will run until June. Andor has set a two-episode premiere for August 31, 2022, and with a 12-episode order for season 1, the series will conclude on November 9, 2022. Given the Fall release date, Tales of the Jedi has about a three-month release window. It is also unclear if the shorts will be released all at once as they did with Star Wars: Visions or if it will be a weekly release like the other Star Wars series.

While news on the Star Wars film slate has been rather slow, the franchise streaming presence has only increased. Tales of the Jedi was one of many Star Wars series talked about at Star Wars Celebration 2022, alongside the animated pre-school aimed series Young Jedi Adventures and the Jon Watts produced Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Similar to how Paramount+ is keeping Star Trek a year-long presence on their streaming service with various series aiming for different audiences, Disney is looking for Star Wars to do the same for their streaming service. The Star Wars franchise continues to grow, and Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi will offer new stories and fill in more corners of the galaxy.
