May your first lead TV role be a masculine lead TV role: Sylvester Stallone has been tapped to play mob don Raymonde Aprile in a forthcoming series adaptation of Mario Puzo’s Omerta.
The Rocky star will star in the potential event series, which The Weinstein Company soon will shop to networks, our sister site Deadline reports.

Omerta, the final novel by Godfather scribe Mario Puzo, follows Raymonde and his nephew, Astorre Viola, who succeeds him in the family business. Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) will direct.
Stallone is best known for his movies, which in addition to the Rocky Balboa films include the Rambo and Expendables action franchises and the drama Cop Land. Earlier this year, he was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe for his performance in Creed. His TV credits include episodes of Kojack, Dream On and Las Vegas.

The actor will executive-produce the project, alongside Fuqua, Harvey and Bob Weinstein and David Glasser (Burnt).
