Syfy is close to securing a deal on a pilot order for David S. Goyer's Superman prequel series, Krypton.

Krypton will center on Superman's grandfather as he fights for the "shamed and ostracized" House of El. According to Variety, the series will be set two generations before Superman's home planet was destroyed.

Goyer—who was behind the screenplays for Batman Begins, Man of Steel, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice screenplays—will pen the script, as well as serve as executive producer. Sleepy Hollow writer Damian Kindler is also set to executive produce. Colm McCarthy will direct the project.

In 2015, Goyer indicated that Krypton could have deep ties with the extended DC cinematic universe established in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hit theaters on March 25. DC's Justice League: Part One is slated to debut November 17, 2017.
