Although Supergirl debuted its freshman season on CBS, the series co-created by Greg Berlanti is heading to The CW for its sophomore outing, joining fellow DC Comics TV heroes Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. Fans may be curious to see how the change in networks will affect the series that focuses on Kara Danvers aka Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), but we already know of one particularly major change that the season 2 premiere will bring: the official introduction of Kara’s cousin Clark Kent aka Superman (Tyler Hoechlin).

The Man of Steel is reportedly only appearing in the first two episodes of Supergirl season 2, ‘The Adventures of Supergirl’ and ‘The Last Children of Krypton’, but fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of one of DC Comics’ most iconic heroes. Based on reports, we know Kara and Clark will be teaming up to take on an antagonist they wouldn’t be able to defeat alone – presumably the government research facility Project Cadmus and their creation, Metallo. Now, in a sneak peek of the Supergirl season 2 premiere, fans get their first look at the superpowered cousins working together.

EW released a short scene from the Supergirl season 2 premiere that introduces Hoechlin as Clark Kent at a newsstand for the Daily Planet newspaper. However, when breaking news of an explosion aboard an aircraft reaches both Clark and Kara, the pair suit up as their alter egos and team up to save the lives of those on board the Venture.

Although the sneak peek is brief, it offers fans of Superman and DC Comics plenty of nods to the comic books, including Clark’s conversation with Mr. White – who many will recognize as the Daily Planet editor-in-chief Perry White. This interaction also brings up one of Perry White’s most famous catchphrases, “Great Caesar’s ghost!” in another reference to the comic book character even though he doesn’t appear on screen. Furthermore, the sneak preview also includes a scene in which Clark transitions into Superman by way of ripping open his shirt to reveal the superhero’s iconic symbol.

Of course, perhaps the most exciting aspect of the scene is seeing Superman and Supergirl working together for the first time on the series as they use their powers to prevent the Venture from crash landing. The sneak peak doesn’t offer much in the way of what to expect from the super-cousins’ partnership in the opening episodes of Supergirl season 2, but it does serve as a fantastic introduction to the Man of Steel.

Still, the scene additionally teases the return of fellow Supergirl stars Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), Hank Henshaw/Martian Manhunter (David Harewood), Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh), Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan) and Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) who are shown reacting to the Venture explosion. But, since the scene focuses more on Superman and Supergirl, it remains to be seen exactly where season 2 will pick up with these characters. However, this sneak peak will undoubtedly excite fans ready to see the DC Comics heroes team up in the Supergirl season 2 premiere – which is only two weeks away.
