Steven Seagal has announced that he is considering running for Governor Jan Brewer’s job in Arizona. Perhaps he feels she is simply not tough enough. Toying with the idea of running for governor coincides with the actor’s release of his new reality show “Steven Seagal, Lawman: Maricopa County”.

Over the last two and half decades, the martial arts expert has been filmed in numerous movies, including such action flicks as “Under Siege”, “On Deadly Ground,” and “Out for a Kill.” Although he’s no stranger to taking the leading role, Seagal often appears plays smaller ones too. Famous for his aggressive on-screen characters, he’s not afraid to shoot people and blow things up for the sake of justice.

Seagal recently shared with KNXV-TV that he has been bantering about the possibilities of running for governor with Joe Arpaio, who claims to be the toughest sheriff in America. It is hard to know this early on whether Seagal is serious about pursuing the position or not. It may very well turn out to simply be a publicity ploy used to promote his new show.

Incidentally, Arpaio has been working with Seagal on the show, which is filmed in Arizona. The series will begin airing on Reelz Channel, a cable TV station. Seagal is an active member of Joe Arpaio’s posse of 3,000 members of unpaid civilians, and has been deputised in New Mexico, Louisiana, and Texas.

It’s expected that should Steven Seagal end up on the ballot and running for the top state position in Arizona, he will include border security as one of the main issues. He is on a mission to tighten up the United States’ borders with Mexico. The “Marked for Death” actor admits, however, that seeing his name on the ticket may be a long shot, as he has many commitments and responsibilities in his life right now. Nevertheless, it should be interesting to see what will happen in the state of Arizona.
