Patrick Stewart accidentally revealed the first season of Star Trek: Picard won't feature Guinan, but that could change in season 2. Officially announced to be in development in 2018, Picard will finally make its way out into the world tomorrow via CBS All Access, and fans couldn't be more excited. It will see the return of Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard for the first time since Star Trek: Nemesis. This time around, Picard finds himself at a crossroads as he enters the next stage of his life while grappling with everything he's been through. A second season of Picard was already confirmed by Stewart himself.

Adding to fans' excitement about the arrival of Picard are the various cameos from Stewart's Star Trek: The Next Generation co-stars. TNG cast members already confirmed to appear include Brett Spiner as Data, Jonathan Frakes as William Riker, and Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi. However, Stewart recently let slip which character won't be appearing in the first season, though there are already plans to rectify that.

While appearing on The View, Stewart turned to Whoopi Goldberg, who played Guinan on The Next Generation across five seasons, and formally invited her to appear in season 2. Stewart said to Goldberg, "Alex Kurtzman... and all of his colleagues, of which I am one, want to invite you into the second season." Of course, this serves as a confirmation that Guinan won't factor into the initial batch of episodes, but she could appear next time around. Goldberg seemed thrilled to receive the invitation, and the crowd was as well, giving her a standing ovation as she hugged Stewart. Check out the whole video below:

While she was not one of The Next Generation's main characters, Guinan made several appearances throughout the show as the bartender for the Ten-Forward lounge aboard the Enterprise-D. Following Stewart's invitation, Goldberg happily explained that she had the "best, best, best time" on the show. Most of the appearances by TNG cast members in Picard seem to be small cameos, so Guinan's potential season 2 role will likely be the same. Regardless, fans seem thrilled to have her back.

With only one day to go before Picard's debut, excitement is at an all-time high. CBS All Access is finding a lot of success with Star Trek television shows, from the original Star Trek: Discovery to the planned Michelle Yeoh-fronted spin-off Section 31. There are even two unnamed Star Trek shows currently in development. There's a show for all fans out there, with Picard looking to bring in those who miss The Next Generation. Fans just have to wait until tomorrow to see if it lives up to the hype.

Star Trek: Picard premieres on CBS All Access tomorrow, January 23.
