Benedict Cumberbatch will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time when Doctor Strange premiers next week. What exactly does the doctor think of the group that he's joining? A new ad explains. As a doctor, Strange takes a moment to diagnose the various injuries and ailments that the members of the MCU tend to receive.

Going up against the Avengers is not generally good for anybody's health, but it's important for us to realize that the people who do have more long term consequences than we thought. The new ad has Benedict Cumberbatch, as Doctor Strange diagnose some poor foot soldier with a permanent loss of hearing after getting smacked in the head with Captain America's shield. Has every poor sod who's taken a shield to face received injuries like that? Does Cap realize he's putting these people at a permanent disadvantage due to his actions? Maybe the Sokovia Accords are needed after all in order to keep Captain America from causing an epidemic of deafness.

While this is an ad designed to promote Doctor Strange, we can't help but notice that it also feels a bit like Benedict Cumberbatch's other popular alter ego, Sherlock Holmes. Although, it seems a bit more like the Robert Downey Jr. film version than his own. As far as Downey goes, his Tony Stark gets diagnosed with a broken heart and it's recommended that he take himself to the movies to cheer up. That can certainly help.

One thing this shows us that we haven't seen a great deal of from Doctor Strange so far is humor. While Marvel's movies have all had their share of quips and other light-hearted elements, Doctor Strange's trailers have focused on him either injured in a hospital bed, or being shocked and amazed by the all the new things he's being taught. We haven't seen him be particularly funny. The only real joke in the trailers has come from Chiwetel Ejiofor when he hands over the Sanctum Sanctorum's wi-fi password.

Of course, we're already looking forward to that point at which Doctor Strange doesn't simply discuss the rest of the MCU, but actually interacts with it. While little is known specifically about how all that will happen, Avengers: Infinity War is closer than you think. There's also the distinct possibility that Doctor Strange will be meeting one of the Avengers very soon as it has been hinted that Strange may make an appearance in Thor: Ragnarok. Of course, since Thor wasn't in Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange wasn't able to diagnose him.

We're looking forward to seeing what other injuries Doctor Strange diagnoses, and likely receives, when Doctor Strange hits theaters November 4.
