Paramount+ has unveiled the trailer for next week's Star Trek: First Contact Day event, as well as more information about the activities taking place. In Star Trek lore, April 5, 2063 is the first time humans made contact with an alien species, the Vulcans. The historical moment was shown in the 1996 film Star Trek: First Contact, which saw Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and his crew work to prevent the Borg from disrupting the course of human history. As a result, April 5 is a momentous day for Star Trek fans, and it will receive new attention this year thanks to Paramount+'s growing collection of content for the franchise.

Paramount+ (which up until recently was CBS All Access) prides itself as being the ultimate destination for Star Trek fans. The streaming service kicked off a new boom in Trek shows in 2017 with Star Trek: Discovery. Since then, Paramount+ has released additional shows like Star Trek: Picard, which brought back Stewart as his iconic character, and the animated Star Trek: Lower Decks.

Next Monday, April 5, Paramount+ will celebrate First Contact Day with a jam-packed event designed for the most dedicated and passionate Star Trek fans. The day will begin at 9am PT/12pm ET with the first part of a marathon of 1o iconic First Contact episodes from across numerous Star Trek shows. Then, at 12pm PT/3pm ET, the global panels will kick off. There are nearly three hours with of content, and it begins with a Star Trek: First Contact reunion. The First Contact marathon continues once the panels finish at 2:45pm PT/5:45pm ET. The full list of panels is as follows:

Fans can stream all First Contact Day panels on StarTrek.com/FirstContact, and they will also be available on Pluto TV, Paramount+, and the streamer's Twitch and YouTube channels. Throughout the day, fans are encouraged to tweet out their memories with the franchise with the hashtag #FirstContactDay. Needless to say, this is a must-see event for Star Trek fans, not unlike last fall's "Star Trek Day" event. There might not be many sneak peeks of what's to come for the franchise, but this will instead be used as a way for fans to reminisce about the franchise and what it means to them. First Contact Day will always be meaningful, and this year promises to be extra festive.
