Sicario

Release Date: Tuesday, January 5, 2016

See it on Amazon for $22.99 (Blu-ray)
From our Review: “This is a land of wolves,” declares Benicio Del Toro’s lethal assassin in new thriller Sicario, neatly wrapping up the film’s cynical mission statement. Denis Villeneuve’s bleak, murky tale of bad guys and worse guys, sees an illegally operating CIA outfit trying to take down a Mexican drug cartel by any means necessary, with one relatively green FBI operative Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) plunged into the middle. If the crime-infested Tex/Mex border war zone is no country for old or young men, it’s a whole different ball game for a woman.

The Walk

Release Date: Tuesday, January 5, 2016

See it on Amazon for $19.99 (Blu-ray)
From our Review: The notion of walking a high-wire 10 feet above the ground can be terrifying for some. Imagine then what it must be like to be on one 110 stories above the ground. Or, don't imagine. See director Robert Zemeckis' The Walk.

True Detective: The Complete Second Season

Release Date: Tuesday, January 5, 2016

See it on Amazon for $39.99 (Blu-ray)
From our Review: Was True Detective's second season as good as its first one? Of course not. In fact, given the "lighting in a bottle" phenomenon of that first run, with Harrelson and McConaughey, it could never be. An argument can even be made that keeping this new story under the True Detective brand stacked the deck against it in immeasurable ways. Especially when you consider how some of the love for the first season began to wane post-Fargo and the show didn't wind up collecting as many awards as initially presumed. So when some fans eyed the new cast, and pronounced the ensemble underwhelming, the snark began to free-flow. And by the time the first Season 2 trailer dropped, many had already pre-soured on the summer run.
