Spider-Man: Homecoming Set Photos Tease Tony Stark’s Return

Over the course of eight years, Robert Downey Jr. has turned Tony Stark into one of the biggest roles in modern cinema. Even though Iron Man is a founding member of the Avengers, he was never a household name such as Spider-Man. For the first time ever, the two characters were able to interact on the big screen in Captain America: Civil War, and their relationship was one of the many highlights. Fans will not need to wait long to see them interact again with Iron Man set to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Even though he is the face of the MCU, it does not appear as if Tony will have a large role in the film, though his presence will certainly be felt. Stark Industries is reportedly the former workplace for The Tinkerer, and Stark’s faithful friend Happy Hogan is even set to return as well. With filming nearing a close, fans could soon get their first look at Downey on set of Homecoming given recent discoveries.

Production has moved to the streets of New York and has allowed the heavily populated area to be prone to people exploring near the sets for Homecoming. Downey previously reported to Atlanta but no photo evidence of what Stark is up to has been given. Well, it appears that Downey, or at the very least Jon Favreau, will be making an appearance on set in the coming days. Spiderman_The_New_Avenger posted a new video on Instagram showing off Stark’s car arriving to set.

Meanwhile, a new photo has surfaced courtesy of Reddit featuring posters for the Stark World Expo spotted on set. The Expo has not had a presence on the big screen since Iron Man 2 in 2010, but check the date on the posters linked below:

The most interesting thing to note regarding the return of Stark Expo is the 2018 date in which it will take place. Homecoming has a 2017 release date and is believed to take place in real time. Could this point to the film actually taking place in 2018 instead? It is possible, but unlikely. Stark would want to promote the event well before it would happen, so an early promotional campaign would seem to make more sense then skipping an entire year of Spider-Man’s life.

Given the posters and Stark’s car arriving on set, Downey could very well be arriving on set in New York shortly. If that is the case, paparazzi will certainly be nearby to capture the moment. While any scenes between Downey and Holland would most likely just be them talking, it would still be a fun moment to see prior to production closing.

    Doctor Strange opens November 4, 2016; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – May 5, 2017; Spider-Man: Homecoming – July 7, 2017; Thor: Ragnarok – November 3, 2017; Black Panther – February 16, 2018; Avengers: Infinity – May 4, 2018; Ant-Man and the Wasp – July 6, 2018; Captain Marvel– March 8, 2019; Untitled Avengers – May 3, 2019; and as-yet-untitled Marvel movies on July 12, 2019, and on May 1, July 10, and November 6 in 2020.
