It looks as if Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 will start filming a little earlier than expected, as a new report points to a May start date and confirms some international shooting locations. Not only will 2018 see three Marvel Cinematic Universe movies hit the big screen, but multiple 2019 MCU films will begin production over that same period of time. Captain Marvel is the next MCU film slated to begin shooting, while 2019’s Avengers 4 is expected to begin pickup shoots around the time that Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters.

The as-yet-untitled sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming will follow the events of Avengers 4 and kick off Phase 4 of the MCU. Though not much is known about what awaits the franchise in Phase 4, the more grounded world of Spider-Man will lead the way following the devastation unleashed by Thanos during the next two Avengers installments. We previously heard that Spider-Man 2 would start filming this June, but it now looks to begin production a little bit sooner than that.

That Hashtag Show is reporting that Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 will begin filming this year on May 28. Though the dates could still change, that means fans won’t have to wait long after the release of Avengers: Infinity War to start seeing set photos and videos from the Spider-Man sequel.

THS was also able to confirm reports that the Homecoming sequel will be filming in either the UK or Germany. Either could be for an international trip that Spidey or Peter Parker takes in the movie, with Germany of course being the only other country the character has been to outside the U.S. in the MCU so far (thanks to the events of Captain America: Civil War).

Spider-Man: Homecoming managed to tie into the larger MCU while still remaining a relatively small-scale film. Though it featured Iron Man, high-tech gadgets, and plenty of nods to past MCU movies, it still gave Peter a relatable and local threat that tested him and his powers. Of course, Spidey will no doubt be facing a bigger threat by the time that the Homecoming sequel picks up with the young web-slinger.

Homecoming hinted at the Sinister Six making their MCU debut in a future installment, and it’s entirely possible that the supervillain team could show up as soon as the Homecoming sequel. Spider-Man’s pantheon could easily stand on its own alongside other Marvel films, as well as the X-Men and Fantastic Four properties that will soon be at Marvel’s disposal. Given that, there’s no shortage of new characters and plots that Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 could incorporate.
