Sleepy Hollow, while still staying with its high-octane in your face pacing, has slowed its proverbial roll when it comes to the developments surrounding the impending apocalypse. Make no mistake, this is still must-see television, but with two additional episodes being added to this season, some “monster-of-the-week” adventures are to be expected.

This week’s outing, entitled ‘Go Where I Send Thee…’, brings the Pied Piper to town. The Lancaster family has the misfortune of being cursed – specifically the daughters of the family every generation. As such, Abbie and Ichabod are unintentionally reunited with the Indiana Jones-like scoundrel, Nick Hawley. The tall handsome blonde blends in nicely with the group, giving Ichabod someone to be jealous of, now that he’s not the only historical expert in town. Will Abbie ever fall for this misguided privateer?

Unbeknownst to our Mr. Hawley, all of the artifacts he’s been searching for are falling right into the hands of Henry Parish (a.k.a. The Horsemen of War). It seems that the Hessians are still keeping an eye on things, even though we haven’t seen their ilk for some time. Seeing what pushes Hawley to team up permanently with Abbie and Ichabod will be the interesting story. With Sleepy Hollow’s cast growing, are you worried some of the other important characters (Jenny) will be underused?

Even though this episode was more stand-alone fare, it was nice to see Captain Irving (Orlando Jones) getting some screen time. His hallucination of the end times was one of the more unexpected and wonderful scenes from the series, with Irving looking like Rambo mixed with a ninja. Unfortunately, Henry revealed that he is now in possession of Irving’s soul. The Captain’s family is also in jeopardy, which will thwart Ichabod’s plan to use Irving as a weapon against his son. The plot is definitely thickening.

So, putting kidnapped children and the doom of our planet aside, let’s talk about Ichabod’s driving lessons with Abbie. One of the great joys of watching this series, are the moments when Ichabod’s 18th-century understanding of the world clashes with the present day. In this go around, it appears that our favorite history professor has the upper-hand on modern technology when it comes to automobiles. Though Abbie might be ashamed to admit it, Ichabod is a better driver, especially when one must “make haste.” Ichabod’s first taste of Cappuccino was another fun moment this week, as he found the over-priced Italian caffeinated beverage quite enjoyable.

Sleepy Hollow has something for everyone. If you like police procedurals, fantasy, action, or supernatural occurrences, then this is the show for you. There are only three episodes left until the series takes a break, so what are you looking forward to seeing as Halloween approaches? Keep watching to see what happens next.

Sleepy Hollow continues with ‘The Weeping Lady’ next Monday @9pm on Fox. Check out a preview below:
