Sicario: Day of the Soldado director Stefano Sollima is stepping into the Tom Clancy universe.

Sollima is in talks to direct Michael B. Jordan in an adaptation of Without Remorse.

Jordan will star in Without Remorse as John Clark, whom Clancy introduced the 1988 novel The Cardinal of the Kremlin. Clark is Clancy's second best-known character after Jack Ryan, currently being portrayed by John Krasinski in the Amazon series.

Clark is a former Navy SEAL and director of the elite counterterrorism unit Rainbow Six, and previously has been played by Willem Dafoe (1994's Clear and Present Danger, opposite Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan) and Liev Schreiber (2002's The Sum of All Fears, opposite Ben Affleck). Paramount is hoping to create a franchise centered on Clark, and is also developing an adaptation of Clancy's 1998 novel Rainbow Six.

Jordan will produce alongside Akiva Goldsman, Josh Appelbaum and Corin Nemec. Jordan's Creed II opened last month and has earned $95.5 million globally to so far.

Sollima is also attached to direct a Call of Duty film for Activision. The Italian director's Sicario sequel was released this summer and earned $75 million against a $35 million budget.
